G’day Brewers!
Please take the time to read through the exciting line-up of events and free up your fermenter space, your brewing prowess will be needed in the coming months:
December Meeting: Please note, December’s Club meeting will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month on the 13th December at the Wheaty. There will be a function in the tin shed, so Xmas beers will be enjoyed in the lounge room. SABC Kris Kringle Bottle Swap: Bring along a bottle of your best festive beer to the December meeting for a Kris Kringle bottle swap. Bottle should be a longneck or similar, and distinctly identifiable. The brewer need not divulge their identity if they wish not to. Don’t be the Christmas Grinch, bring along a bottle! Tasting beers brewed at November’s System Wars will be available for tasting. See you there!
Summer Comp yeast buy: We’ve extended the date to order your White Labs yeast bulk buy on the SABC store portal to end of day Thursday 7th December. Get your orders in ASAP as we will be ordering the following day. Visit the store on the SABC website to order.
Summer Comp, Brew the Wheaty: Summer comp entries will need to be brewed and entered for judging by no later than Thursday 25th January and will be judged on Saturday 27th Jan by Jade and her crew at the Wheaty. If you haven’t started planning, get your skates on!!
Hawkers Brewing and SABC. Call to brew: It was announced at the last Club meeting, SABC has received a supply of rare and now unavailable South African hop varieties which Hawkers Beer has sponsored to the Club. Brewers are invited to put their hands up to brew for a social event hosted by Hawkers in February (date and venue TBA). SABC will need to produce 2 full 19L kegs for the event. Varieties include, African Queen, Southern Dawn and Southern Star. We have secured 500g of each variety, so if you’re up for creating something unique send us an email with your interest and ideas for your African Ale creation. First in best dressed.
February meeting; Atomic Yeast: Volunteers needed! We are seeking 3 club members to assist with brewing a beer using Atomic Yeasts new yeast ‘paste’ formula. 3 mystery strains will be provided however they will be kept a secret and only revealed by Federico and Tommaso during their presentation to the club at our February meeting. In order to maintain consistency, a large single batch of wort will be produced and split 3 ways, so all you have to do is control the fermentation! Please note volunteers will need to have temperature controlled fermentation chambers and be available late Dec/early Jan for brewing.
Please message us on FB or email info@sabrew.com if you are interested in brewing for the above mentioned events.
Cheers and good brewing!
